The Krugerrand Gold Coin (incl GST), an iconic creation by the South African Mint. This legal tender, backed by the South African Government, ensures purity and authenticity.

Weighing 1.0909 troy ounces (33.93 g), the Krugerrand is crafted from a gold alloy comprising 91.67% purity (22 carats), totalling one troy ounce (31.1035 g) of gold. The remaining 8.33% (2.826 g) consists of copper, enhancing its durability.

Since its inaugural minting in 1967, the Krugerrand has dominated the global coin market, holding a staggering 90% share by 1980 and remaining immensely popular to this day. Designed by Otto Schultz, the obverse features the likeness of Boer statesman Paul Kruger, while the reverse showcases a springbok, a symbol of South Africa. Inscriptions of “South Africa” and the gold content appear in both Afrikaans and English.
