The 2 oz Silver coin Year of the Snake, the sixth animal in the Chinese Lunar Calendar and one of the twelve signs of the ancient zodiac. Traditionally, each lunar animal is believed to influence the personality traits of those born under its sign. People born in the Year of the Snake — including 2025, 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977, and every twelfth year before — are said to be intelligent, ambitious, independent, charismatic, and destined for success.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 99.99% pure silver, these beautifully crafted coins are issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965.
No mintage limits apply to the 1 kilo, 5oz, 2oz, and 1/2oz releases. With the exception of the 1 kilo coin, production of these sizes will conclude at the end of 2025, when official mintages will be declared by The Perth Mint. The highly popular 1oz coin has a strict maximum mintage of just 300,000 coins worldwide. Due to its limited availability and strong collector demand, the 1oz release is expected to sell out quickly.
The reverse design features a coiled snake resting beneath hanging leaves, alongside the Chinese character for “snake”, the inscription “SNAKE 2025”, and The Perth Mint’s iconic “P” mintmark. The obverse showcases the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III for the first time on a Lunar Series coin, together with the coin’s weight, purity, and monetary denomination.
