Why “Nugget”?
Originally launched in 1986, the series was known as the Gold Nugget series, with early designs showcasing some of Australia’s most famous natural gold nuggets. In 1990, the design focus shifted to the kangaroo, creating a unique fusion of Australia’s gold mining legacy and native wildlife. Despite the change in imagery, the name “Nugget” remains widely used.
