Description
Commemorating one of the most pivotal aerial conflicts of World War II, the 2015 1oz Silver Battle of Britain Proof Coin honours the courage and determination displayed during the Battle of Britain in 1940.
Struck by The Perth Mint from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver, this stunning proof issue marks the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Britain — the first major military campaign fought entirely by air forces, and a defining moment in the defence of the United Kingdom during WWII.
The reverse design depicts three Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft soaring through the skies during battle, capturing the intensity and heroism of the era. The design also features the inscriptions “75th Anniversary of WWII” and “The Battle of Britain”, along with The Perth Mint’s traditional “P” mintmark.
The obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, together with the 2015 year-date and monetary denomination.
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act, this highly collectible release is housed in its original mint presentation packaging and includes a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
